Business As Usual

Business As Usual

So, here we go again – the holidays are over and it’s my first day back at work. I’m hopeful that it’s going to be somewhat less intense this time around, but I’m probably just being naive. Our daughter will start school and the house finally needs to be fully furnished, so it’ll be a busy autumn even if office life will not be totally insane. Which it will.

But I’m looking forward to the next months and I’m not (just) being masochistic. I’ve always liked September and when most people make New Year’s resolutions, I feel like a brand new, better person every autumn. New life will begin. There will be healthy breakfasts and serious books on current affairs and exercise and consistency in my parental principles! There will be a more organized, more fabulous, nicer and smarter, all-around improved version of me!

I will of course fail miserably at most of it, but I’m not too concerned. Yes, I’ll only read a third of the books on my list, but this is still much better than not having a list and not reading anything. Yes, I will forget I own that baobab powder and no longer use it with bio yoghurt every morning, but the five times I did it still mean five more breakfasts than I would otherwise have had. I’m an enthusiasm-based person and even if the enthusiasm doesn’t last forever, there’ll be something else to be excited about. I’ll replace baobab powder with moringa one and have another five breakfasts.

As of today, I’ll be back to the 6-times-a-week posting schedule and I intend to keep it that way for the foreseeable future. This might change, if I run out of ideas or it just isn’t feasible any longer, but for the moment, the enthusiasm reserves are pretty full. In case you have any particular things you’re interested in, do let me know and I’ll do my best to oblige.

Have a good autumn and drop by, when you have a moment (I really appreciate that you guys didn’t disappear over the summer and kept reading, thank you!). There’ll be dresses and books and autumn scents and almond flour and maybe even eye make-up. What excitement!

PS This isn’t really a rant, but this is the closest category I’ve got.

Welcome back! Your thoughts on fall mirror mine; again we are of one mind about things ;)! To repeat myself from instagram, I have to say that notebook is lovely, I’m gonna try to track one down here in Sweden. I bought three notebooks at Ikea yesterday (of all places, when did they start doing great notebooks?) but that’s not gonna stop me, I always need more notebooks…

Thank you! And these Ikea people are clever – I always buy more than I intend, although Zara home is even worse for me. I hope you’ll find the Alice notebook somewhere, it really is such a wonderful idea. Lycka till!

    Welcome back!
I’m sadly lacking enthusiasm for this season. September always reminds me of the end of summer and returning to school, which I was not fond of, to put it mildly. Rather than grumble on, I’ll say yay! for your anticipation of new beginnings, your lack of concern regarding achieving what you thought you might and moving on, your adorable notebook, new furniture, and most of all, seeing you here more frequently. 🙂

I completely get that (although I was pretty OK with school), I guess my enthusiasm for autumn is partly a defense mechanism 🙂 Estonian summer is so brief that there is never enough of it. But I do like autumn as well, especially early autumn when it’s colourful and still relatively warm. And I love autumn fashion: autumn/winter collections always seem much more interesting to me than the spring/summer ones, although the difference is slowly blurring. Also, great time to wear perfume, not too warm, not too cold.
